The Best Homemade Shower Cleaner Recipe

Are you in search of the perfect shower cleaner that’s simple, effective, and won’t break the bank? Look no further! Today, we’re sharing our recipe for the BEST shower cleaner you’ll ever use. Not only will it leave your shower sparkling clean, but it also doubles as a microwave cleaner. It’s a win-win! So let’s get started with the cast of characters you’ll need.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup of warm vinegar
  • 1 Cup of Original Blue Dawn dish soap

Instructions:

  1. Warm the Vinegar:
    • Measure 1 cup of vinegar and warm it up in the microwave for 2 minutes. You can use a large container of vinegar from Costco or your preferred brand.
  2. Clean the Microwave:
    • As the vinegar heats up, it will soften all the crusty food in your microwave. You don’t need to scrub; just wipe it away with a clean paper towel. Enjoy your clean microwave!
  3. Prepare the Shower Cleaner:
    • Pour the warm vinegar into a spray bottle.
  4. Add Dawn Dish Soap:
    • Measure and add 1 cup of Original Blue Dawn dish soap to the vinegar.
  5. Mix Well:
    • Shake or mix the solution well to combine the vinegar and dish soap thoroughly.
  6. Label Your Homemade Cleaner:
    • Create your own label using scissors, paper, and a pen. Make it personal!
  7. Cleaning the Shower:
    • Now, it’s time to see how this fantastic cleaner works. Spray the solution all over your bathtub or shower and let it sit for about 15 minutes.
  8. Scrub and Rinse:
    • After letting it sit, use the scrub side of a sponge to lightly work through the tub or shower surface. Then rinse and admire the shine!

(Note: Some may notice that the bathtub in the pictures is different. This is because I have the privilege of cleaning two bathtubs in my household. Both were cleaned using the same solution, but lighting conditions varied.)

Wrap-Up: I use this homemade cleaner exclusively for my bathtub and shower walls because it not only removes soap scum and stubborn stains but is also cost-effective (less than 50 cents) and non-toxic. Unlike store-bought cleaners that leave residual chemicals on surfaces for years, this DIY solution is safe for your health and the environment.

With just 1 cup of vinegar and 1 cup of Dawn dish soap, you can easily mix up a batch of this highly effective shower cleaner. We hope you enjoy the results as much as we do! Stay tuned for more exciting projects, like my upcoming paint project. 😄
