HOW TO MAKE FUNNEL CAKE
THE INGREDIENTS LIST:
– 1 1/2 Cups.Of all-purpose flour
– 2 Tbsp.Of granulated sugar
– 1 Tsp.Of baking powder
– 1/4 Tsp.Of salt
– 1 1/4 cups milk
– 1 large egg
– 1/2 Tsp.Of vanilla extract
– Vegetable oil, for frying
– Powdered sugar, for dusting
PREPARATION:
1st Step
Put about 2 inches of vegetable oil in the bottom of a pot with a heavy bottom or a deep fryer. Bring the oil up to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius) by heating it over medium-high heat. For accurate readings of the temperature, a candy thermometer should be used.
2nd Step
Mix the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt together in a large mixing basin using a whisk. Additionally, in a separate dish, thoroughly mix the milk, egg, and vanilla extract by whisking the ingredients together.
3rd Step
Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Whisk the ingredients together until you get a smooth batter that is free of any lumps. The consistency should be about the same as pancake batter, which means it shouldn’t be too thick or too runny.
4th Step
To create the classic funnel cake shape, you can use a funnel or a squeeze bottle with a small opening. If you are using a funnel, place your finger over the hole at the bottom of the funnel, and then pour the batter into the funnel starting at the top. If you will be using a squeeze bottle, all you need to do is fill it up with the batter.
5th Step
Place the funnel or squeeze bottle just above the hot oil and release the batter while moving your hand in a circular motion to create a spiral or lacy pattern. Fry the funnel cake for about two to three minutes on each side, or until it reaches the desired color and texture (golden brown and crispy).
6th Step
After the funnel cake has finished cooking, take it from the hot oil with tongs or a slotted spoon, taking care not to drop it. Put it on a platter that has been lined with paper towels so any extra oil may drain out. Before serving, let it rest for a minute so that it may cool down.
7th Step
Sprinkle powdered sugar all over the funnel cake in generous amounts. You may also add chocolate syrup, fruit toppings, whipped cream, or even a scoop of ice cream for an additional indulgent touch. All of these options are available. The finest way to eat funnel cakes is still warm and fresh from the oven. Serve them right away, and enjoy the delicious combination of crispiness and sweetness!
