Custard Apple Rolls

Custard apple rolls are a delicious and easy-to-make dessert that combines the sweet and creamy flavor of custard apple with the soft and flaky texture of pastry dough. Here’s a simple recipe to make custard apple rolls:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cut into small pieces
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1 cup custard apple pulp
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon powder

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and sugar.
  2. Add the chilled butter to the bowl and use your fingers to mix it into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add the cold water to the bowl and mix everything together until the dough comes together in a ball.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead it a few times until it becomes smooth. Then, roll it out into a rectangle that’s about 1/4 inch thick.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix together the custard apple pulp, sugar, and cinnamon powder.
  6. Spread the custard apple mixture evenly over the surface of the rolled-out dough.
  7. Starting from one of the shorter sides, roll the dough up into a tight spiral.
  8. Use a sharp knife to cut the spiral into slices that are about 1 inch thick.
  9. Place the slices onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown.
  10. Serve the custard apple rolls warm with a dollop of whipped cream or a dusting of powdered sugar on top, if desired.
