Of course, I want my home to smell nice and fresh, but my problem is that I hate strong chemical-filled air fresheners. Their smells are always too artificial and overwhelming. Fortunately, there are many natural solutions from inside our homes that will keep your space smelling amazing! Keep reading for 6 natural solutions for a freshly-great smelling home.
1. Stovetop Potpourri
A great and simple way to make your kitchen and home smell great is making your own Potpourri and simmering it. You can find plenty of DIY Potpourri recipes on the internet. My favorite one contains oranges, cranberry, cinnamon sticks, and pine. I love its smell, especially around the holidays.
2. The Lightbulb Trick
Another great way to keep your room smelling fresh and nice is to use a drop or two of vanilla on a lightbulb. When you turn the light on, the bulb will heat up the vanilla and it will make your room smelling lovely and nice.
3. DIY Air Freshener
You can make an easy air freshener using alcohol (use rubbing alcohol or vodka), and a few drops of essential oil of your choice. Spray this mix to deodorize and leave a nice smell around your home.
4. Carpet & Fabric Deodorizer
Mix baking soda and a few drops of your favorite essential oil in a jar and shake it well. Sprinkle it on your carpets and furniture. After 15 minutes, vacuum the mixture up. The baking soda works as an absorbant to unpleasant odors and the oils will leave a nice smell behind.
5. Baking Soda Air Freshener
Use the ingredients listed in the hack number 4, place them in a jar, then put a plastic jar around the jar’s opening. Poke some holes in the plastic wrap and leave it in your room of choice. As mentioned before, baking soda absorbs any gross odors.
6. Citrus Cleaning Solution
Our last hack for a nice, clean, and fresh smelling home is to use citrus-infused products. Try adding some lemon or orange rinds to a bowl of warm water, add some distilled vinegar, and let it sit for a couple of days. Remove the orange rinds and transfer the infusion to a spray bottle and use it to clean and disinfect your surfaces and furniture.
